Ammonia Blood Test

Use:

This test is used to detect an elevated level of ammonia in the blood that may be caused by severe liver disease, kidney failure, or certain rare genetic urea cycle disorders. Also, it also helps investigate the cause of changes in behavior and consciousness and to support the diagnosis of hepatic encephalopathy or Reye syndrome.

Recommended For:

Those with liver disease or kidney failure who experience mental changes or lapses into a coma.

Special Notes:

Patient is required to avoid cigarette smoking and fast 12 to 14 hours prior to giving blood sample collection.
