Our Basic Thyroid Profile was designed by Dr. J.E. Williams to assess thyroid function and its regulation of your metabolism. Thyroid testing provides an evaluation of the thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) as well as the active form of hormones produced by the thyroid gland. The inability to lose weight, fatigue, reduced libido and fluid retention are common symptoms of an underactive thyroid (a.k.a. hypothyroidism), which is especially prevalent in women. An overactive thyroid gland, also known as hyperthyroidism, can be equally problematic.
Recommended For:
Diagnosis of and monitoring treatment of thyroid disorders. Those who are experiencing symptoms associated with hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism.
Special Notes:
If you are currently taking a thyroid hormone, it is recommended you get your blood drawn prior to taking your daily dose. Otherwise, no special preparation is needed.
