This test evaluates kidney function and clearance of creatinine from body. It is essential in end-stage kidney disease to assess function and adjust medication dosage.
Exercise may cause increased creatinine clearance.
Recommended For:
Assessing renal function, monitoring dialysis, adjusting dosage of medication affecting kidneys like methotrexate.
Special Notes:
Avoid cephalosporins. Drink water before the clearance is begun, and continue good hydration throughout the clearance. If possible, drugs should be stopped beforehand.
